  1. It would be very nice if you could have collaborative movie lists like Spotify does with their playlists. Or if there was some sort of group page feature where u and other people in the group could also make recommendations postings to each other or something similar.

  2. It doesn't need to be something big like having a different page layout for movies and series. It's just that if I enter a page of a tv series that I don't know, I confuse it for a movie. A simple one or two words description like "feature film"/"tv series" next to the title or somewhere on the page would be enough.

  3. I't would be great to see ratings from other sources like IMDB, TMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, below the Letterboxd ratings,

  4. It would be nice to be able to delete a tag from all films you've tagged. For example: I started out tagging every film with the actors that were in it. (I know, I'm stupid.)

When I go to my tags pages now, it's a mess 'cause it's full of tags that I don't need. It would be easy to be able to have a function that would remove that tag from every movie I've logged with that tag. Now, I have to edit every entry and that's obviously very time consuming.

PS this feature is not mentioned in the…

  5. I understand that you need funding, but please - oh please - stop the video popups in the bottom right corner. I'm not even against video ads in dedicated spots in the pages, but the popup COVERS YOUR CONTENT. And it is also anathema to many accessibility guidelines that I know you know since the site is overall very well designed.

The video popup covers content, reappears relentlessly no matter how often a user closes it, and repeats the same ad over and over. Also, accessibility nightmare, hello?

If you need money that urgently, I'd be happy to chip in…

  6. Thread comments, similar to Disquis or Reddit comments (without upvotes for each comment). This will help the comments be more organized and keep each conversation contained.

  7. The current criterion poster is neither the theatrical poster nor the most iconic. I would suggest you change it back to the theatrical poster (https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/7aVQFvGkLnpA71mYoDkVkzSzBZM.jpg)

  8. I believe it would greatly reduce confusion if there was an in-website notification system to alert a user if they violated the rules or otherwise needed to be contacted by moderators. Having no feedback on reviews removed for rule violation forces one to infer the offense; the effort to curb content in violation of the rules would be more effective if one was told directly what they did wrong. As it is, the system rather resembles YouTube's copyright notifications before Google added information detailing which timestamps of the contentious video violated copyright law. As it is, violators on LB are…

  10. On the same day, I might watch film x and then film y, in that order. However, if I log film y first, the order in my diary will have them as y and then x, even though I watched x first. I think it would be a convenient feature to be able to reorganise the order of films logged under a given date in the diary view.

For example, I have found evidence that I watched a film on a day in 2015 that I forgot to log at the time. There was another film I logged on that…

  11. TV shows and film go hand in hand in my personal view. It would be so cool to be able to rate and find tv shows. Even a seperate page with a joint account. I watch TV shows as often as film and theres no other website like this so I thought it would be great!

  13. Given two (or more?) letterboxd lists, the script compare the titles and finds the ones that are present in both of them.
All kind of lists: user films, watchlists, directors fimogarphies.
It would be amazing to filter out unwanted movies from some big and confusional lists, and get into a very very specific mood!

    Examples:
Compare "Anxiety-Inducing Cinema" list with "romantic movies that don’t suck" list to find out some weird stuff.

Or "for when you don‘t have too much time but you still want to enjoy a good movie" list with the "seen titles" list from my fave pal,…

  14. Delete an entire tag as you would a list. Some tags I have are out dated, or I thought of a better name for the tag, or I simply no longer want to see it with my tags. I know we can delete the tag from the review, but can we delete the tag itself?

  15. Wouldn't it be nice if we had an feature where all of the other users could interact with each other? Since we have the blocking feature I believe that we should also have an system that benefits from that.
With private messages, instead of filling the comment section and notify every user who has participated/ commented in that review, users could message each other.

  16. I am sure you have had this asked for plenty but here goes!

As I have been adding movies to my watch list, I realise as the list grows I am less and less likely to watch the ones that I added earliest, as I would have to scroll all the way down.

My simple idea is to have a button that will cycle through your watch list and pick a random movie - for when I am looking for a movie to watch!

Could also possibly do the same for the site as a whole and it’s entire database…

  17. Manually adding each film in a list can be exhausting (especially if there are more than 500 movies in it) and there should be an option to click one button to add all movies in that list to your watchlist.

  18. For a website that promotes such robust movie discuss it's amazing how diffract it makes it to carry on conversations in the comments section.

Why is there no threaded replies with tagged user handles?

As it stands now I can write a comment under a user review, and they could write back in response, and I could never know that happened without going back to check myself. This is like YouTube was setup 10 years ago when comment interaction was an unorganized mess. They've long since revamped it and the same needs to be done on Letterboxd.

  19. While you can't stop people who haven't seen a film from rating and reviewing it, films should be "locked" until its first screening, be it at a film festival or a premiere. e.g. a film that isn't released until June should not have any ratings or reviews prior to its release date unless an early screening can be verified.

  20. It makes ZERO sense that one can log a watched film by a specific date but yet the text box itself seems to have its own separate, invisible / hidden & thus ~uneditable date.. when really the logs should be the ONLY date valid!

Because for purposes of backdating things, it would be very useful to visit the "Year-in-Review" stats pages or the "Reviews" section & see all the text logs for any year simply by sorting. Except that isn't possible.. instead:

"0 REVIEWS" shows on the Stats pages. (false info!)
"You haven't written any reviews during YEAR." (lies)
    ie:…
