  1. It would be nice to have to option to sort films by more precise lengths like a sliding bar where you would set a minimum length and maximum length e.g. 75 min - 100 min films only

  2. I understand that you need funding, but please - oh please - stop the video popups in the bottom right corner. I'm not even against video ads in dedicated spots in the pages, but the popup COVERS YOUR CONTENT. And it is also anathema to many accessibility guidelines that I know you know since the site is overall very well designed.

The video popup covers content, reappears relentlessly no matter how often a user closes it, and repeats the same ad over and over. Also, accessibility nightmare, hello?

If you need money that urgently, I'd be happy to chip in…

  3. One function I’ve been pining for since I started using Letterboxd in 2013 is the option to “Include/Exclude” movies, genres, countries, etc. when browsing. Just having some multi-option functionality where you can include/exclude anything would be a really useful addition I feel. Say you want to browse action movies from Japan, but don’t want horror to show up whatsoever. Even within lists, say you wanted to add a certain amount of films you find to a list but don’t want to do it all one-by-one, and so forth.

  4. Hello, I have noticed that in TMDB there is an entry for Hermanos y Detectives, an Argentine miniseries from 2006 (not to be confused with the spanish series with the same name), but it is not in the Letterboxd catalog, something that should be corrected since it meets all the conditions to be added to Letterboxd. This has only one season and is not classified as a series, so it should be uploaded. I attach the link to the entry in TMDB:

  5. An option to be able to use the site in a lighter version ; Light grey or even white. Users would be able to choose the theme.

  6. Someone changed the official poster to porn, can you but back the original and lock it down so no one can change it anymore?

  7. Hello. Over the past few months I've noticed some huge inconsistencies in your system of choosing what is considered a "film" and allowed to stay on the database. This all started when I tried to add "Falsettos (2017)" as one of my 4 favorites on my profile, only to find that I wasn't able to as it had been removed from the database. I emailed you guys and the answer I received was "Falsettos is technically not eligible for a page as it's both a Broadway musical and an episode of a TV series".

Here are some reasons why I…

  8. the poster that used to be on letterboxd (i.e. this one https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/w1280/7hlgzJXLgyECS1mk3LSN3E72l5N.jpg ) is more popular (it has been and still is the most highest rated poster on tmdb), more suited to the film and obviously more suited to letterboxd in that the current poster's picture only takes up a third of the image and this is made more clear by the fact that all the credits have been removed from this, leaving two ugly stark blue lines around the main image

  9. I have 70+ lists and would like to group them so they’re easier to navigate. I.e. Directors, Decades, Genres etc.

  10. I follow a bunch of random people I have never met before on Letterboxd. I would love the option to dm them and talk about films we both like or our reviews and whatnot. I think it can be a great way to get to know like-minded film folks and become even more of a "social" film website.

  11. I'm trying to look through the highest rated films of 2020, and I have all the content filters on.

    https://letterboxd.com/films/year/2020/by/rating/size/small/

I'm seeing live show, live show, half the top row is made of live shows and it's driving me up the wall. There are ELEVEN live shows in the top 20. I'm not using letterboxd to watch a bunch of stand-up comedy. Earlier years have been palatable regarding this problem, but for 2020 it's just too much. Why is it impossible to get almost exclusively narrative movies?

  13. Why is Big Little Lies still on Letterboxd? It was originally intended to be a mini-series but it no longer is.

  14. Goodreads is clunky and ugly and hardly works. All alternatives are just Goodreads rip-offs and are absolutely hideous and not user friendly, etc. etc.

What will it take to get you good people to dupe your UI and plug books into it instead of movies?

    This is so desperately needed.

  15. I think it would be really great to receive a push notification of a film being logged by someone I follow, as well as the ability to specifically select who I would like to receive those notifications from.

I regularly miss when my friends watch something because the activity section is a bit of a pain to navigate, and is filled with a lot of other people I follow. I'd love to be able to keep up with what they're watching without having to go to their individual profiles each time I check the app.

  17. As a user I’d love to see the length (time) of the movie displayed in hours and minutes instead of just minutes. This is a mental calculation I have to do frequently and currently think it’s a bad user experience.

135 minutes = mental calculation, bad experience

    Would prefer,

2 hrs 15 mins = easy to grasp, great experience.

At the very least can you have it toggle between the two? Similar to how you can toggle between list percentage (125/250 is 50%).

  18. I would like the ability to filter my watchlist to show only the ones which are NOT available on my streaming services. This is to help choose which movies to buy physical discs for, the ones I want to see but are not on streaming.

  19. Given two (or more?) letterboxd lists, the script compare the titles and finds the ones that are present in both of them.
All kind of lists: user films, watchlists, directors fimogarphies.
It would be amazing to filter out unwanted movies from some big and confusional lists, and get into a very very specific mood!

    Examples:
Compare "Anxiety-Inducing Cinema" list with "romantic movies that don’t suck" list to find out some weird stuff.

Or "for when you don‘t have too much time but you still want to enjoy a good movie" list with the "seen titles" list from my fave pal,…

  20. It would be nice if, when looking at the "Popular Reviews" section of the movie pages, reviews of substance were prioritized by implementing a small, minimum character limit on what displays there.

It's pretty common to see low-effort, five-word, joke reviews as "the most popular review" and they're not particularly helpful.

I found three examples just looking at the 8 currently most popular films on letterboxd.

    https://letterboxd.com/film/mortal-kombat-2021/ #1 review:
"none of these movies have ever explained why they spell combat with a k"

    https://letterboxd.com/film/the-father-2020/ #3 review:
    "Man, fuck Paul"

    https://letterboxd.com/film/another-round/ # 3 review:
"me and the fellas when the vaccine…
