  1. Keep track of new film releases

I wunder if it is possible to keep track of new film releases. Now if we want to add a film to our watchlist. We have to search for it or stumble on it. I'm looking for a way to see upcomming films sorted bij release date so we could add them to our watchlist. I've seen a great example here: http://www.taphive.com/todomovies/ , but my hart lays and stays with letterboxd.

  2. Disable likes/comments on certain diary entries

Would it be possible to add a feature that allows users the opportunity to disable likes/comments on certain reviews?

Not every diary entry needs these features.

Years in Review are created for all years in which you have logged at least 10 films or tagged at least one list with the relevant YIR tags.

The website end-of-year YIR has been generated annually since our first full year: 2012.

A combined stats view for all years is in the works!

  4. Importer from IMDB does not work

    Hi,
    Using IE 10,
i export at IMDB, which gives me ratings.csv
Importing it will allow me to point at the file,
next nothing happens: no sign whatever Letterboxd read the file ratings.csv.

    Regards, Ad Weterings

  5. Sharing the diary

Hi!! I'm addicted in your website. Tks for it.

I think we could share in facebook and twitter when we mark a film for diary.
Like: <click in "review or log this movie"><save><share that you watched>
And in facebook or twitter, for example, show "Líli france watched "Life of Pi" in 03/JAN".

  8. On the actors/movies page, put the TMDB id somewhere

I have the habit expanding site features with userscripts.

The problem I have atm is that there is no easy way to figure out the TMDB id for an actor / movie.

    A possibility:

    For an actor:
    <div id="content" data-tmdb-type="person" data-tmdb-id="1229">

    For a movie
    <div id="content" data-tmdb-type="movie" data-tmdb-id="115">

  9. 'Service Unavailable' message

I find that when searching for certain specific terms, such as genres ('thriller', 'comedy') or names of months ('august', 'june') I often get a message saying "The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

This happens even when the search term corresponds with the title of a movie. Is this a bug?

  10. Fix the API so changes made to TMDb port over quickly and automatically

I know you're already on top of this to some degree, but I can't stress enough how important it is. Right now the site's biggest problem is that changes made to TMDb never make it to Letterboxd without your intervention. Not just posters, but everything. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to add a director or fix a release date or something on TMDb, only to find that somebody else has already fixed it. And it's not that somebody else fixed it only a few hours previously. I know of many cases where a friend of mine…

TMDb caches its API content for six hours, which means we can’t update changes any quicker than that. We do have a method to perform a manual import for new additions, and will continue to improve the importing process where we can. We are investigating a bug that’s causing the search index not to update, and some film updates not to come across.

  11. Allow importing directly to the Watched list

If you just want to import the films you've seen into the Watched category, you currently have to make a filler list to do so. There should be an Import button on the Watched page that doesn't require another list.

  12. Improve the performance of the site in general

I'm finding the site a little slow to navigate these days. It's not very slow but things can take a while to load once you've clicked on a link. I presume that will only get worse as traffic to the site increases.

We’re aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Part of it is architectural and requires us to re-structure how we calculate activity and popularity. Part of it is due to an issue in our caching framework which we are also working to fix.

  13. I can't view or use the site at all.

Going to the homepage makes it load momentarily before being replaced with the 2001: A Space Odyssey screenshot error page. I can go to my profile by typing in the URL and view most other pages on the site, but I can't actually do anything like I was able to before; clicking 'seen', 'like', or trying to comment or log/review a film results in an orange bar at the top reading "Internal Server Error". Is this something on my end or are there issues with the site?

  14. Can we make the Netflix import fail report a bit more descriptive.

I can't tell what the issue is when my Netflix settings don't import. I just get a "try again later" message. But that doesn't tell me if the error was a connection error, a server error, an error because I have too many reviewed movies on Netflix or something... I want to know if this is an error that won't go away.

  15. Add Netflix integration to the "Films" list in profiles

It might be nice to see what's available on Netflix/Netflix Instant from your profile page for purposes of re-watching. Looks like it only exists in the Watchlist at present.

FB auto-posting is supported natively (see Settings → Connections).

Until we support Twitter natively, you can auto-post from your profile RSS feed by using IFTTT.com (search IFTTT.com’s site for Letterboxd → Twitter recipes).

  17. Better Search

I searched for "Best in Show" and came up with 1000 results, the actual movie "Best in Show" didn't appear on page 1 of the results.

  19. more flexible RSS feed

I'd quite like to import my reviews onto my blog, with a link to letterboxd. However, it seems that my RSS feed also contains other activity such as adding items to lists.

If there was a neat way to get a link to more specific RSS feed that didn't have a confusing UX that'd be really helpful.

For example Flickr has a link on each page to subscribe to update for that page. My photostream's RSS link is for all my photos, but the RSS link on the page for a particular album only contains updates to that album.

  20. Add a table view for the film list, with sortable/filterable columns

This would allow us to search, filter, and otherwise analyze our data easily. We may also wish to create graphs and lists with this info; while it would be nice if Letterboxd also did that, it would be easier and more flexible if we could get at the raw data. See Goodreads for a decent example of rich tables of user data.

We’ve completed the first stage of this, by changing the default diary view to a sortable table view. We’d love follow-up feedback on how useful this is, and if/how you’d like to see this view used elsewhere in the site.
