  2. Improve the performance of the site in general

I'm finding the site a little slow to navigate these days. It's not very slow but things can take a while to load once you've clicked on a link. I presume that will only get worse as traffic to the site increases.

We’re aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Part of it is architectural and requires us to re-structure how we calculate activity and popularity. Part of it is due to an issue in our caching framework which we are also working to fix.

  3. Link blinkbox, netflix, lovefilm to update letterboxd

Somehow so when you watch or purchase a film it updates on your profile to mark the film as 'Seen'

  4. Make the numbers on a film's page more useful.

When you go to a film's page there are three numbers underneath the movie poster: watches | lists | likes.

These are all core features of the site but just giving me a number tells me nothing useful about any of those things. Some suggestions (using The Dark Knight as a reference since it's popular):

    1. Lists
This is the main one I have a problem with. As of writing TDK is on 792 lists. What does this number tell me? Nothing! A big problem with the site is the sheer number of lists, and a quick click of TDK's…

  5. Our ratings underneath the poster images on our profile.

Could it be possible to show the ratings we give to each film underneath their respective posters on the "films" grid on our profile?
That way we can not only see right away if our friends have actually seen the same movies, but compare tastes and how we feel about each film in a very visual and steadfast way.

  6. Importing IMDB lists

Hi, i just tried to import a massive IMDB list i just exported from there, and it hangs (gives an error then it stops parsing the data) on some titles (marked as TV series in the exported .csv).
I deleted the offending lines on the .csv file and now it hanged on the title "masters of science fiction")
I suggest the script to ignore the titles which can not be parsed for various reasons instead of hanging the whole import operation.
    That would be awesome.
    Amazing website by the way.

  7. Clear the activity history.

It would be nice if you could delete/edit activity history. :)

  8. Numbered page navigation and serach field for "Followers"/"Following" pages

This would make it easier to find users within these lists.

  9. Tumblr button

Please add the usual "share" buttons. Especially tumblr. There are many many Letterboxd users who also use tumblr. http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/letterboxd

  10. Let us browse the new films added to the database

Like it says, whether they're new releases or older films that users have added to TMDB, I think it would be pretty useful to see what has just been added to the site. It might also allow you to happen across stuff you had forgotten about or stuff that you are just interested in seeing.

  11. Create an empty placeholder for lists

I would like to be able to add an empty placeholder to mark a division in a list. Better yet, this placeholder should contain editable text, and I should be able to place multiples in a list, with unique text in each one.

Why? When you create a list like <a href="http://letterboxd.com/lise/list/best-samurai-films-recommendations-needed/">Best Samurai Films - recommendations needed</a> you may want to move the films you've seen to the top of the list. You want to divide those you've seen from the others. I had to use Yojimbo as the marker. But a blank black placeholder in which I…

  12. Remember my sorting on my Films page

I prefer to view my Films page sorted by 'Added', however it will always revert to 'Released' each time I load the page. Could it remember my sorting preference?

  14. Table view of "Films->Sort by Popular"

The "Films->Sort by Popular" view is currently in grid format only. It might be interesting to also be able to display this in table view, with a column indicating the "popularity" of (i.e. how many members have viewed) each film.

  15. See a user's ratings when you look at their films

Whilst it's possible to see a user's ratings in the ratings page, it would be amazing to see it in the big grid film view, when you highlight. Currently your own personal rating comes up, but the user you are viewing's rating does not. I know I'd really appreciate this feature!

  16. Sort ratings by release

User's watched tab can be sorted by release, but when I want to then see what they think of for instance, films released last year, and I go to the ratings tab, it's not an option to sort by release date.

  17. Toggle between "Grid View" and "List View" for pages other than Lists

I would like to be able to view the Watchlist as text as opposed to just the current movie posters.

While this problem could also be solved by the "Export Our Data to a Standard File Format" suggestion, I think this would nonetheless still be a nice addition to the Watchlist feature.

  18. let users make entries in their diaries in advance

i think the letterboxd diary is a real killer feature. i once suggested to add custom (country depending) release dates to films, but i learned, that the data, which TMDb provides and on which letterboxd relies, just features US release YEARS.

how about letting people add movies to their diary in advance. one could add the movie with its custom release date and have a quick overview, which movie gets released on which date. movies, that haven't been watched yet could be optically highlighted as such in the diary.

maybe in further development one could add invitations out of a…

  19. Add additional commenting functionality

    1. You have the list of what HTML is supported when you're adding comments...why not make clicking on one of them insert the necessary HTML element into your post so users need not write it themselves?

    2. Add ability preview and edit comments for up to 10 minutes after posting.

  20. Allow colons and slashes in the tags

That would make it easier to sort tags by name, i.e. genre: comedy, mood: light, first seen: 2012, etc. Granted, you can do that now but allowing colons would make it a lot less ugly to look at.
