  1. Match (and compare) members with similar taste

Add a match button to every profile so you can check immediately if somebody has the same taste as you.

You can use the like and/or rating of a movie to produce a list of similar movies/similar profile or a similar %.

  2. Private accounts (and/or private Reviews, Diary Entries and Ratings)

I'd like the option if keeping my account private, like how Twitter handles private accounts.

We’re thinking more about this now that our API is nearing.

In the meantime, note that you can block any member from following you or posting comments on your content (look for the Flag icon on the member’s page).

  3. Follow/Subscribe to a List, Actor, Director, Studio or Tag

Besides liking a list, I think it would be nice if you can follow a list. Some lists will change or grow over time and it would be nice if people get a notification in their activity of it when they choose to follow a list.

  4. Add groups/clubs that users can join (and tag members when watching films together, etc)

Enable users to create groups they can join, such as "Filmspotting fans," "365 Movies in 365 Days" or groups by location, etc. sort of like Facebook groups.

  5. Allow users to upload a profile picture without Twitter or Gravatar

Please allow users the option to upload an avatar/profile picture without having to connect a Twitter (I don't have a Twitter, for example) or create a Gravatar account. Uploading profile photos directly to an account is a simple feature that most all other social media platforms allow!

  6. Integrate "Now Playing Near You!" notifications into Watchlist

I watch tons of trailers, most of them several months in advance of the films' release. I file away the ones I want to see, but it's impossible to keep up with when and where every film hits theaters (if it hits theaters at all). So I would love it if Letterboxd could notify me when the films on my Watchlist are in theaters near me.

  9. Search within a member’s account or list

It would be extremely useful to be able to search for titles in certain lists, such as the top 250/other poll lists and 3rdrevelation's "youtube collection". Does this make sense?

  10. Support spoiler tags within a review/list/comment to indicate partial spoilers

It would be great if it was possible to only put a spoiler warning on part of a review. That way, people who haven't seen the movie can read part of the review instead of not being able to read any of it, just because there is ONE spoiler in the review.

  11. Lists Should Have Default Sorting/Display Options

Right now it seems Lists default to show covers with any added notes not being visible until the viewer manually switches View modes (which is just a small button). I like to have my lists with a bit of substance. I'd like to see an option while creating a List to be able to default your specific list to whatever view style suits it best.

  12. Filter watchlist with multiple services at once

Right now I have Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. From my settings page, I want to be able to check off which services I have access to. Then I want to be able to filter my watchlist by all available services. Additionally, it would be helpful to display on which services a film is available on an individual film's page. This would help tremendously in figuring out which films I need to buy or rent vs which ones I can access from a streaming service.

  13. Add more statistics to Year In Review page, update more than once a year

I am trying to make my film-watching as robust as possible. the more statistics i can see, the better. I set personal annual goals of number to watch, amount of special collections, foreign languages, etc. if I could see these on a rolling basis I'd have an idea of how far I'm leaning in any one direction (ie oh shit I've watched 70% comedies this year). Ideas include adding:

    -breakdown of languages watched
-breakdown of award-winning or special collection (ie criterion) films watched
-infographic of nations watched (ie a map showing the globe and 4 films made in Israel, 16…

  14. Embedding lists/reviews on other sites.

Not exactly sure how this might work, but somehow make it possible for me to embed my lists on a blog or Facebook or some other web site (complete with images).

Each title could link back to Letterboxd.com.

  15. Widget to show recently diary entry on blog sidebar

I would like a widget I can put on my blog sidebar to show film (with poster image) I recently saw.
I have tried put letterboxd RSS on blog sidebar, but It only has text and on show the entry with review.
    Thank you.

  16. Arrange List By Your Own Rating

I have private lists of the movies watched during a specific year, and would love to be able to arrange them by my own star rating. The site already allows to arrange lists by all users' average rating, but it sure would be swell to be able to arrange by my own personal ratings. Thanks.

  17. Toggle between "Grid View" and "List View" for pages other than Lists

I would like to be able to view the Watchlist as text as opposed to just the current movie posters.

While this problem could also be solved by the "Export Our Data to a Standard File Format" suggestion, I think this would nonetheless still be a nice addition to the Watchlist feature.

  19. Show writers (and producers/cinematographers/composers) credit on film page

Simple enough: screenwriters should have a place on each film's main page, don't ya think?

  20. Add the ability to sort by list size

Lists are a great way to find similar/related films, but the function has been overrun by lists such as "2015 Films, Ranked"-- lists that are more about the user than the film. These lists may serve a purpose but when I'm looking at an obscure film with 95 "rank" lists and only 5 related to the actual content of the film, it's very frustrating.

Of course it's not feasible to ask users to mark their lists as such. Sorting by list size (smallest to largest) would be an elegant way to push the smaller, more thoughtfully curated lists to the…
