  1. movie showtimes

I think what would be extremely cool and very helpful would be a showtimes feature. It'd be great if showtimes could be integrated with watchlist, ideally, so we could know when a movie we want to see if playing. What does everyone else think?

We have showtimes for the US available in the “More Services” button under the poster on the film page. We don’t import these natively into Letterboxd at present (which would be required for a tighter integration), but maybe in future.

  2. Group my films by year

The new drop-down menu under ratings allowing us to view only th 5 star rated films is fantastic. I use it all the time. I would like a similar feature fore the "films" link, such that when I sort them on release date, I could, if I wanted to, only view the films released in 1950.

In fact, I think something like this across the board in Letterboxd would be useful, such that I could display all films released in 1950 and hide the ones I've seen.

This would avoid my having to create lists like "Films I've seen from…

Part of what you suggest here is already available: you can click the year on any film page to see all films released that year (and hide the ones you’ve seen using the eye icon with the slanted line through it).

We are currently working through some the process of better surfacing this kind of control in other areas.

  3. Fix error on list numbers

Hi, I've got a list of my 100 favourite movies, but whenever I compile it, some of the numbers duplicate and I can't then edit them - currently there are 4 11's in the list. Can this be fixed please? Thanks.

  4. iOS app: Offer shortcuts to log films from search results

Add to diary or watchlist would be swipe options from the search results list.

Right now it's 2 steps to add a film to my diary and 3 add to my watchlist. If I realize I've already seen it, I can add to my diary or mark watched. But if I realize I haven't seen it, then I have to go over to the search function instead.

  5. Exclude films with TV show titles from automated import

There are a lot of valid films with incorrect viewing activity from trying to match TV shows which aren't in the database. For example, people who have watched Aziz Ansari's Master of None end up assigning ratings to an obscure Philippine film from the 80s called Hee Man: Master of None.

Here are a few examples, note the difference between the reviews and the views/ratings:

    https://letterboxd.com/film/black-mirror/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/community/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/dark/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/deadwood-park/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/firefly/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/friends-1993/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/hee-man-master-of-none/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/mad-about-men/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/narcos/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/new-girl/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/penny-dreadful-2013/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/sherlock-case-of-evil/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/stranger-things/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/the-last-man-on-earth-2014/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/the-league/
    https://letterboxd.com/film/true-blood/

I would suggest making a blacklist of TV titles that the import tool doesn't automatically try to find matches…

  6. [bug] Profile view: recent activity widget hasn't changed for three months

I've watched and reviewed a bunch of movies since January and all of that activity appears on /activity/you, however the Recent Activity widget on my profile has not changed since then.

Alex, have you “logged” films with a date since January? The Recent Activity section is based on diary entries, not just marking films as watched (as under our model, marking a film watched means you’ve seen it at some point, not necessarily recently).

  7. Streamline "seen" vs. "rated"

It's very easy to forget to rate something that you've marked as seen, and vice versa. Supposedly, I've watched 820 movies and only rated 819. That's infuriating, as I haven't been able to find the one I haven't rated. It would be wonderful if this process could be slightly streamlined or simpler.

    Thanks,
    JW

  8. Add sorting options to a user’s Lists page

I'd like to see a way of sorting out your lists. For those of us with many, it would be nice to subdivide them into catagories (Top 10, Director lists, etc...)

  9. When rating, show other films you've given that rating to

Similar to http://feedback.letterboxd.com/forums/136771-general/suggestions/2655961-other-films-you-rated-similarly, but not yet implemented.

In the iOS app for IMDb, when I select a rating for a film but before submitting it, you can see what other movies you gave that rating to so that you can adjust based on other films before submitting.

I would love to see the same feature in the Letterboxd app. Rating a film would need a new UI, however, to make such a feature work well.

Note that this is not the same as looking at a list of films filtered by rating. The important part of this request is…

  10. Connect the letterboxd account with themoviedb.org so information gets updated both ways.

As the movie scrape/information already comes from tMDB, perhaps giving an option to link the accounts in some form or fashion, so both sites can exchange voting info, watchlists, ratings and reviews aso. I think perhaps both sites could benefit from this.

  11. iOS app: show percentage of total for each ratings histogram bar

I love the visual spread of reviews you offer on each film. It's a super useful way to grasp the polarization some films create in fans.

You offer this feature on the app, but it seems like when you tap on a rating, you're only able to see the amount of people who have given the film that rating, as opposed to the percentage of reviewers who have given it that rating, which seems like a more useful figure. As I know you're able to see this information on the website, any chance that we can see that addition to…

  12. Make reviews sortable and add more movie listing per page

Right now you can only sort by rating in one direction. So if I sort by rating I have to scroll through possibly HUNDREDS of reviews to get to lower score reviews.

Alot of times I dont need to see 5 star glowing reviews, I want to see some honest "this is what think is wrong" reviews.

I would add a rating system like newegg where it tells you how many 5 star how many 4 star how many 3 star ect ect reviews there are and then let us click that section and only see that group of ratings.

  14. 'Upcoming' section in home for films in our watchlist

Add to the Home page an area where we have a list of upcoming films in our watchlist. The movies in this section would be the ones that could trigger notifications on the app, since they are the closest to the current date.

Adding them to the home would give us a very quick update to remind us to go catch a movie, which may not be necessary for blockbusters but is ideal when talking about small films that won't get a lot of weeks on screens or a big marketing push.

I know the site has an 'Upcoming' page,…

  15. Email just once about comments until we visit the site

You know how Facebook and other sites will send you an email about a comment for a thread you've subscribed to, but they don't send any more emails about activity on that thread until you visit it? I think Letterboxd should do the same thing. I'm afraid to not check my mail for more than 2 hours for fear I will have thousands of emails from Letterboxd.

We did take this approach initially, but then we decided to include the comment text in the email, which removed the need to return to the site at all in order to keep reading the thread. Which meant we had to always send emails.

  16. insert a feature to sort ALL lists by highest percentage of watched.

One idea occurred to me recently. Would it be interesting if you could pull up a list of lists wherein you have the highest percentage of your watched films? Not so much sorting a list that you've pulled up, but of all the lists on the site, you'd just get your own personal most overlapped. That way you would see some lists that you wouldn't ordinarily come across that would, by definition, best reflect your preferences, and the remaining films you haven't yet watched are probably the best ones for you to seek out.

  17. Email validation requirements are too strict

Hi, I found out about this site because someone tweeted their review of After Earth. It had 6 comments and I wanted to add my own (several hours after signing up for the site already), but then I saw that the site requires me to validate my email address. I had some issues with the email validation (it went to my Gmail spam, which is extremely rare, maybe you guys need to make sure the email gets sent differently so Gmail knows not to identify it as spam?).

But then I saw that even after all that and I had…

  18. List Memory For Removed Films

Sometimes movies are inaccurately removed from Letterboxd for false "adult" or "video" flags, and get put back on shortly afterwards. The problem is, once they're removed, they're taken off every list that they were on, and they're not reinstated once the movie comes back. I was thinking it would be nice if the lists on Letterboxd kept some sort of memory for removed movies that were once on the list, so that if they're reinstated, they'll reappear automatically on the list.

  19. Add user settings for primary/default Watch panel options

On each film page, the Watch panel currently shows Amazon, Netflix, and iTunes links by default (as applicable), with other options hidden under the "more services" link. It'd be very helpful to be able to customize what services are shown upfront by default.

For example, if I want to always see availability for HBO GO without having to click "more services", it would be much more convenient.

Perhaps this could even be based on the "Favorite Services" settings for people signed in with a GoWatchIt account.
