Recommendations
I think "recommendation" will be a killer feature of the site, even if it doesn't approach the philosophy behind letterboxd (being a social site).
Moreover now that you are at the beta stage, meaning fewer users, less probability of "friends", the recommendation of a movie based on my most liked movies or the highest rating, it'll be a great way of discovering new movies.
I know that technically it will very challenging or maybe you have even think about it.2,872 votesWe’re considering options around this at present. Thanks for your input, which is invaluable.

Private accounts (and/or private Reviews, Diary Entries and Ratings)
I'd like the option if keeping my account private, like how Twitter handles private accounts.

Add Favorite Actors/Directors on Profile page
The ability to list one's favorite films is great, especially when sharing preferences with friends; the opportunity to list favorite actors would be just as convenient. Adding a "favorite actors" category to a users profile page would be a fairly simple change that could really add a lot of personality to each account.

Suggest/recommend a movie to a friend
I imagine some kind of inbox or notification system where you can receive suggests from your friends. The film menu you see on mouse over can get an extra option "Suggest to friend..."

Collaborate on a list or watchlist
Allow a list being 'open' which then users can follow a list and add films to it. This will result in much more list activity and complete film lists.
Take for example http://letterboxd.com/pablos/list/special-powers/. I can easily add 10 more movies without any effort to make the list more complete.
Optional: to demotivate abuse, submitted films must be allowed by the list owner before being added.
1,002 votesWe love this idea and are formulating some plans around collaboration in general.

Create lists of Cast, Crew and Studios
I often find that I want to list things other than films. It would be great if I could create a list of, for example, the Best Directors. Or list my Favourite Japanese Actresses. Or make a list of popular Animation Studios.

New System for Handling Films Marked as Adult
Recently, a lot of sexploitation and other classic exploitation and cult films have been removed from Letterboxd because someone on TMDB has been marking them as Adult. I think that the process of importing titles needs to be rethought, because it is drastically affecting my abilities to keep track of my lists and reviews, and it really hurts to see titles disappear after I have put effort into writing reviews and managing lists.
Something really needs to be done about this, because this has continued to be an issue since I first started using the site, and so far there…
616 votesLet’s do this: can someone in this thread compile a list of “important/historically significant” adult films that should be on LB. Then we can see about adding an exceptions list to our importer that uses this list.

Achievements/Badges
As with other "logging" sites badges would be nice. These badges add a bit of fun and competition to the movie watching experience. These could be badges about the content (Having watched all movies by Hitchcock, Having Watched Every Start Trek Movie...) about the amount (You have watched more then 100 movies this month, You have watched more than 1000 movies in total) or about the topic (Sci-Fi badge for watching at least 25 sci-fi movies and such things). I think it would be nice.

Unlisted option for lists
It would be great to be able to make a list that I could share with friends but not have public to all my followers. Like YouTube's "unlisted" setting on videos. Not public, not private, but sharable through links? Say, a list of films we plan to watch together that I wouldn't want on my page?

Select/detect language of reviews
Most reviews are and will be written in English. But once public accessible this site will (hopefully) grow, so will the number of reviews and diversity of languages used to write these reviews. On a movie detail I can see 3 popular reviews in 3 different languages for example.
Maybe an options where you can select in what language your review is written and an option (checkboxes) to select which languages you understand... and wan't to see.
189 votesWe’ll monitor this as we grow, makes sense though.

Group lists in folders
I have a lot of private lists for organizing my opinions for films as well as information for my YouTube channel and Instagram, and I keep having to search through my list longer than I thought. I would really like to see folders be visible, so that folders are visible in the lists section, while lists that can stay out of folders can be visible normally in the same section. Please take this into consideration!
144 votesWe support tags for grouping lists into more specific taxonomies. We don’t have any plans to add list grouping (other than via tags) at this time.

Save review as draft
I want to write more reviews to contribute more, but I need time, and since there is no way of saving drafts before publishing a review, I keep dropping reviews all together instead of writing something half assed. Writing reviews locally in a text editor up front doesn't work for me, I simply find it to big of a hassle. This is just a fun hobby after all, not serious business :)
117 votesPlease use a private list for this, as suggested by Tyler D, until we can are able to add it.

Stop the video ad popups
I understand that you need funding, but please - oh please - stop the video popups in the bottom right corner. I'm not even against video ads in dedicated spots in the pages, but the popup COVERS YOUR CONTENT. And it is also anathema to many accessibility guidelines that I know you know since the site is overall very well designed.
The video popup covers content, reappears relentlessly no matter how often a user closes it, and repeats the same ad over and over. Also, accessibility nightmare, hello?
If you need money that urgently, I'd be happy to chip in…
86 votesWe’re listening to all feedback on the ad placements and will be aiming to achieve a better balance over the coming weeks.
(There is an option to use our service ad-free, also, for less than $2 a month: https://letterboxd.com/pro/ )

Add MPAA Ratings!
Perhaps there's a good reason for you NOT to include film ratings next to each film, but I feel like it's important enough information that it should be included at least somewhere. I have to exit the app to find out if the movie is rated R or not... a bit strange?

Compare Lists
Would be great if we could cross two or more lists generating a new list (temporary or not) as a result.
A greater possibility of films exploration.
I'm always dying to explore better giant lists like Palm d'or Nominees to see how many films an director has in it. Or another example to intersect this previous list with Criterion collection etc etc.
81 votesNote that you can already import one list into another (if you’re Pro, you can clone someone’s list and then—by removing everything above the column titles for film entries in the exported file the file—you can import this into another list). This provides a union of two lists, but not an intersection. We’ll have a think about list comparison for intersection.

Friends' average rating
In addition to the Letterboxd's user average, have an average score of only your friends rating.

Reorder films logged on the same day
On the same day, I might watch film x and then film y, in that order. However, if I log film y first, the order in my diary will have them as y and then x, even though I watched x first. I think it would be a convenient feature to be able to reorganise the order of films logged under a given date in the diary view.
For example, I have found evidence that I watched a film on a day in 2015 that I forgot to log at the time. There was another film I logged on that…

Popular Users
Do we really need the Popular Users page? it just turns the site into a popularity contest.

Don't delete user's comments when they delete their account
I don't think you should be deleted user's comments when they delete/deactivate their account. When the comments are deleted/removed it makes all the comment threads illegible and all messed up because people are responding to a comment that no longer exists.
