Watchlist: allow sorting/ranking/categorizing and notes
In the 'films' section of your profile you can order your films by popularity, could it be possible to integrate this function into the 'watchlist'. Tis could be handy for days you have no inspiration on what to watch.?
Watchlists can now be sorted into several orders. Manual control and categorization still in the works.

If there is a features roadmap, please assign this feature the highest priority.

Would love to be able to sort the watchlist in "High", "Medium" and "Low" priority categories. If one could just give each film a 1, 2, 3 or green, yellow, red indication to sort by. Or High, Medium, Low tag, and sort by tag. Or be able to create your own categories, so both my wish and others need to categorise by something else could be catered to.
Checking in here to echo what others have said: I was surprised that I couldn't reorder my watchlist manually the way I could with any other list. My watchlist has grown quite long and it's easy to lose track of the films I'm most excited to watch next. I would love to be able to manually drag them to the front so I could have more control over how the list is sorted.
I was pretty surprised that I couldn't reorder my watchlist easily, even after paying for the Pro. I'm sure it's not as easy as it seems to us outsiders, but I'd really appreciate it if this was something we saw soon
Need the ability to sort watchlist manually… to prioritise the films to watch.

Just here to echo all the requests to add Notes to the Watchlist movies, or some other way to keep track of WHY we put a movie on the watchlist. Not only would this be a good reminder for the list keeper, but also if, say, your movie watching partner is looking through the list to pick something out, they don't have to ask about why every random movie is on there, they can just see that it has a random actor, or was well-reviewed or whatever.
I’m voting for the ability to add notes to movies in my ‘watchlist’. This to know why I added these movies to my watchlist.
I'm mostly voting for NOTES here. It would be an immense help in remembering WHY I added the movie to my watchlist in the first place — who recommended it to me, whether I was trying to watch all movies related to a director / actor / etc, maybe it just had good VFX?
Would be cool if the notes auto-populated into the review field when I finally log the film, but that's no biggie either way.
Any progress on this, six years in? Being able to re-order the watchlist would seem like an easy ask, especially since Letterboxd has already implemented the UI to reorder other sorts of lists. This is easily the #1 missing feature from Letterboxd from my perspective.

It would be so useful to reorder my watchlist — then I can prioritise the films I want to watch by hand.

So some films I want to see more then others. it be really nice if we could in away Rank our watchlist. but not like 1 2 3... Maybe more like REALLY Want to See, Want to see, & Kinda Want to See or Something along those lines
That way me and other people can see what films I want to see the most and what films I might just watch at home when I have nothing better to do.
If not notes on movies in the watchlist, then perhaps the same tagging system used for the diary. Allow us to use that same set of tags on movies in our watchlist. And when we convert the movie to "watched" maybe the tags can carry-over to the diary entry.
As many have said, this would be very useful for remembering WHY I added a film to my watchlist.
I always forget why I added specific films to my watchlist. Often it's because I read an article or book or something else referring to the film, and by the time I actually get back to looking at my watchlist to find something to watch I've totally forgotten what excited me about the film in the first place. So it would be very nice to have a little "note to self" place for the films on your watchlist where you can remind yourself what attracted you to the film.
Could there be a way that we could organize our watchlist in ways that aren't by recently added? Perhaps A-Z, release date, Letterboxd score?
One other thought--what if you just allowed users to specify an arbitrary list as their "watchlist", since the arbitrary lists already have manual sorting? The main advantage of the "watchlist" is the convenient button on each film page to add directly to the list, so if the user could specify a different list to be the default target that would also accomplish this goal.
Any progress on manual watchlist sorting? That functionality alone would be enough to get me to upgrade to Pro if offered.

Same thing for me. I share the watchlist with my partner, and there are movies there that only one of us wants to watch. Being able to tag movies as "mine" would help to browse de watchlist.
Is there any reason watchlists couldn't be manually organized/ordered the same way as any other custom list? Seems like you already have the UI implemented so it's just a question of adding this functionality to this "special" type of list. This is the one feature I'm looking for before changing list-tracking services (currently on Rotten Tomates/Flixster).
That's definitly a feature I need. With over 100 films in my watchlist I want to rank then so I can see wich films I wanna see next.

This would be such an helpful feature. At the moment Letterboxd is the best way to manage everything movie related but as mentioned by the OP, once you grow a massive watchlist you cannot really find what you are looking for easily.
As of right now, I have to use private lists to work around this.
