  1. Notify users when a title is removed from Letterboxd

Letterboxd needs to implement an automated system that can notify users when a film they have watched, logged or added to a list is removed from the website.

Sometimes, titles are removed from Letterboxd only to be added back, such as the 'Kenzo World' commercial. If I remember correctly, several hundred viewers had logged the ad when it first released on YouTube, including myself. It was only when I downloaded my Letterboxd archive that I noticed the film's URL field in the .csv file was empty, meaning it had probably been removed from Letterboxd at some point and was no…

  2. Reorder films logged on the same day

On the same day, I might watch film x and then film y, in that order. However, if I log film y first, the order in my diary will have them as y and then x, even though I watched x first. I think it would be a convenient feature to be able to reorganise the order of films logged under a given date in the diary view.

For example, I have found evidence that I watched a film on a day in 2015 that I forgot to log at the time. There was another film I logged on that…

  3. Create a search engine that can find common movies between multiple actors or crew

I want to type in multiple actors and see what films they have been in together. Or see how many times a director collaborated with the same actor.

They’ve changed their export format — please ensure that the ratings column in your export file has a column title of “Rating10” and our importer should then pick these up. (We’ll get this fixed at our end soon.)

  5. Add Release Year to Diary movie list

Would be nice if the list of movies in our Diaries would include the year the film was released.

  6. Allow Pro or Patron users to generate stats for their lists, like a summary of ratings, countries, actors, directors.

On the list view page for a single list, allow Pro or Patron members to generate a stats page similar to the pages generated for your diary entries.

    Stats could include:
    - Count of film years/decades
    - Percent watched and in watchlist (you sort of have this already)
    - Countries (with map)
    - Languages
    - Ratings summary and averages
    - Most / least popular, watched and highest / lowest rated
    - Directors
    - Actors

  7. use a different algorithm for "Highest Rated" stars and directors

My "Highest Rated" stars list is filled with stunt people and costumed little persons. My "Highest Rated" directors list is heavy with animators from yesteryear, most of whose works I've never seen.

With all due respect to the above persons, most of them have made these lists because I've given one or two high ratings to a specific work or two, but ~not~ to their collected ~body~ of works — leaving my list rather uninformative for my liking.

I realize you also have a "Most Watched" setting — but then I'm just left with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg — who…

  8. comments stuck

    Hi Mathew
Please fix the comments section below lists .. the 'show all comments'
button doesn't work. This is a massive problem for lists with more than 1000 comments

    Regards
    goo.

  9. insert a feature to sort ALL lists by highest percentage of watched.

One idea occurred to me recently. Would it be interesting if you could pull up a list of lists wherein you have the highest percentage of your watched films? Not so much sorting a list that you've pulled up, but of all the lists on the site, you'd just get your own personal most overlapped. That way you would see some lists that you wouldn't ordinarily come across that would, by definition, best reflect your preferences, and the remaining films you haven't yet watched are probably the best ones for you to seek out.

  10. Opinion pieces (essay/article etc.)

I often find myself inspired whilst writing a review and instead of (only) writing about the film I watched, I end up with an opinion piece about a whole genre or a director or a filming technique etc. However, I never include them in the reviews because it doesn't feel like the right place. I feel like there should/could be a dedicated section for such pieces.

Letterboxd is described as ‘a social network for sharing your taste in film’ and we all know that taste is not developed through simply rating movies. We can also analyze and review; why do…

  11. Add likes to exported data

There's a file of ratings, but there doesn't seem to be data on which films I had "liked."

  12. See date when last logged

I would love to open a movie page for a film I have seen and easily see what date I saw it last. I.e. under the watched/loved/watchlist-symbols, it could be a small text-line showing when I last logged the film.

  13. Consider the year, if supplied in a search phrase

So movies with generic titles will produce many search results. For example, searching for 'One Day' produces eight matching movies with the same title. It would be useful to be able to add the release date and narrow down the search so the movie you want pops up at the top of the list however I've noticed this is not possible yet.

I've noticed this is a source of confusion for new users. I have seen people copy and paste into letterboxd using the following common format, "One Day (2011)", which counterintuitively produces no movie results just various lists and…

  14. Theater showings on movie page

Basically an addition to the "Where to watch" feature on the lower left side, but for movies currently playing. some kind of Fandango integration perhaps?

could be as simple as a box to enter your zip code which sends you to a page on Fandango or something.

Or could be advanced as something where your profile on LB has your zip and it'll show local showtimes.

  15. Add up the runtimes in lists.

I like to create lists for myself that are marathons. It would be really great if there was a feature for the list to add up the runtimes.

  16. Native apps: show the actual number of times a person has watched a movie (if more than 10) instead of showing "!"

It's best to show the actual number of times I have watched a movie if I have seen it more than ten times. Right now, a movie with more than 10 watches just gives me a "!" sign instead of the actual number. It's a good way to keep track of movies and I thought that that was the point of this website.

  17. A watched film should be removed from your watchlist if you log it.

Anyone else notice that if you have a film you have already seen in your watchlist, you log it and it won't deleted from the watchlist like a movie does that you haven't seen before.
I noticed it started doing this a few days ago.

Anyway to get it back to normal??

  18. Sort Lists by Popularity While Editing

I really enjoy all the new ways we can sort lists when creating/editing them.

What I would LOVE would be the ability to sort lists by Film Popularity while creating/editing them.

  19. Faster scrolling when dragging a movie up/down a list in desktop mode

Make the scrolling speed faster when you move the cursor to the top of the list, please! I have a list with almost 200 films sorted newest first and it shouldn't be so tedious to drag one to the top.

Here’s a tip until we can improve this: switch on list rankings, then click the ranking of the film at the end of the list, type a “1” then press Return. The film will shift to the top of the list. Repeat as you need to, then turn off rankings (if required) before saving your list.

  20. 'More' option fails to load/expand.

When I click 'more' it loads out ellipses (...) instead of the bio or review I am attempting to read. This happens whether I am logged in or off. The only time 'more' fully loads out is in the older review sections and not on specific pages.
