Let’s do this: can someone in this thread compile a list of “important/historically significant” adult films that should be on LB. Then we can see about adding an exceptions list to our importer that uses this list.

      Any updates on this?

I put together this list over the site. So far, it's got a few likes - even if its nowhere the level as most lists get when they become popular. I still think it gauges that this is something quite a few (with the votes here on Feedback) would like to see happen.

I so, so, so would like to help contribute to this. There are so many “adult” titles that really deserve to be in the database simply on culturally significant terms. I still find it bizarre that "Deep Throat" isn't even on here (and I'm saying that as someone who absolutely despises that film) - and then while some of Metzger's adult films are here (due to TMDb not recognizing them as such), his most essential title (and one that had Oscar buzz in the year of its release) is "The Opening of Misty Beethoven" and it is also barred from being on Letterboxd.

Focusing strictly on cultural impact and/or artistic merit (some of these are by respected auteurs such as Abel Ferrara or Jesus Franco, Russ Meyer, Richard Kern, et all) … Not basing this on personal picks, at all - these are titles that should definitely be in the database beyond what the “adult” block would allow. As predictable, they grow less and less “significant” following the growth of the video and internet porn age (where many scholars of adult film as important to cinema tend to dwindle). I think that further illustrates these titles as worth Letterboxd entry, unlike, say, a “Sluts Vol. 9” DVD or something…

And yes, some of these may actually be in the TMDb database, unscathed by the block. But much of these aren't ... like how the cultural zeitgeist that is "Deep Throat" isn't allowed on Letterboxd, but its less unheard of or significant sequel is...
